To complete this month's trilogy of Monday's MHX Music Musician of the Month I look back at my favorite recording with Gerben Bootsma. As I look to it from a musical perspective, my favorite track is definitely 'Voel Mij'. Vocalwise you hear that there is some kind of urgency in the lyrics. Gerben explained that he wrote this song based on an argument with his wife, so that explaines a lot. 🙂 And furtherly the way the music is processed by the band, this urgency is adapted into a banging rock song. And for the insiders, the hihat intro is inspired by the intro of Deep Purple's Space Trucking and the harmonic guitars in the other intro by Whitesnake's Always & Forever. Trouwens, ik voel dat wanneer dit nummer live wordt gespeeld, het als een gekkenhuis schommelt en dat had ik niet verwacht toen ik het schreef."
